Visit our Language Center in Fez

Fez is the second-largest city in Morocco, with a population of around 1.15 million people. The city is considered the spiritual and scientific capital of Morocco, one of the four Imperial Cities. Crossroads Cultural Exchange is based in the new city (Ville Nouvelle) of Fez, and our cultural exchange and language center operates Monday through Friday year-round.

When it comes to culture, there is so much to learn. Morocco is located at the crossroads of Africa where cultures from Europe, Sub-Saharan Africa, and the Arab world meet. When people from different cultures encounter one another, their differences can either drive them apart, or they can grow in mutual appreciation and respect. Crossroads Cultural Exchange exists to nurture an environment where all people are valued, where we build bridges—not walls—and where we humbly embrace learning about cultures in order to foster connections between people.

Morocco is a very unique country for several reasons. The first is its strategic location in the northwest of the continent of Africa, just 14 kilometers south of Europe. This beautiful country is bordered by the Mediterranean Sea in the North, the Atlantic Ocean in the West, Algeria to the East, and Mauritania to the South. For this reason, Morocco is a crossroads where cultures, civilizations, and ethnicities meet.

About Us

 Karen Pretorius and Michael and Cailyn Wheatley are three friends who care about culture. Even in their friendship, they are continually deepening their understanding of the cultural dynamics that define them. Karen is from South Africa, Michael is from Washington, USA, and Cailyn is from Ohio, USA. They all now live in Morocco and have a combined thirty years of living as expats and working across cultures, in addition to speaking English, Spanish, Afrikaans, and Moroccan Arabic.

This life experience has made them passionate about helping people understand cultures and navigate intercultural life, whether that’s in Casablanca, Prague, Cape Town, or Columbus.
